Grand Forks has waited until this week for a celebrated purveyor of Texas-style barbecue, so the local franchise owner figures that diners here should be willing to stand another slight delay. “The food is good enough that people will be willing to take an extra 15 seconds to get here,” said Josh Becker, owner and operator of a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, scheduled to open Thursday at South Washington Street and DeMers Avenue in Grand Forks.
Police still are trying to determine the identity of a man they arrested Saturday night during what they said was an attempt to rob a Burger King stifled by employees who fought back and detained the man.
DETROIT LAKES — A 30-year-old woman from St. Louis Park died Sunday when the snowmobile she was riding hit a tree about 10 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday morning.
