UND’s 31-24 Potato Bowl win against Stony Brook on Saturday in the Alerus Center likely won’t make many highlight reels. “It wasn’t pretty; it wasn’t a beauty contest,” UND defensive back Joel Schwenzfeier said. “In that style of game, you have to scrap and crawl for everything you get. But a win is a win.”
The Potato Bowl Parade will go on — it will just be quieter than usual.
Cold temperatures forecast for Saturday has forced area high school marching bands and the UND band to pull out of the parade. But the parade will go on, chairman says.
Usually, the Potato Bowl week rolls around on warm days of September. This year, we have Potato Bowl events in the cool of October that really feels more like November. But as I have told you before, we are brave and strong here in North Dakota. And anyone who likes potatoes will find them all over town today. There’s a chip giveaway at Community Bank and baked potato bars in all Hugo’s stores.
