Zebra mussels spur 'infested' status for Alexandria area lakes 
Lake Le Homme Dieu, where zebra mussels were discovered in late June, was added to the list of infested waters this past week. The DNR also added several lakes connected to it, including Alvin, Carlos, Darling, Geneva, Jessie and Victoria. Zebra mussels have not been found in them yet, but officials said they’re likely to become infested at some point.

Hot day ends with severe weather 
The unusual-for-this-summer hot day Thursday ended with severe weather in spots in eastern North Dakota moving into northwestern Minnesota shortly after 9 p.m., dropping hail and high winds. Severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect in the last hours of Thursday over parts of Marshall, Pennington, Polk and Red Lake counties of northwestern Minnesota.

- Burr Oak Bay Subdivision: Located just off of N.D. Highway 1, Burr Oak is designed for stick-built houses built on site, or for manufactured housing that meets certain requirements.
The family of Don Uglem, who farm near Northwood, N.D., started developing land along the southeastern shore of Stump Lake in 2007. Don Uglem has built a house there.

Devils Lake water source project likely getting money, Dorgan says 
North Dakota Sen. Byron Dorgan says Congress is expected to approve the final piece of funding for a new water source for the city of Devils Lake. Dorgan says the last $1.6 million is in an energy and water bill that should be approved soon, so it can be signed shortly after the Obama administration takes office in January.
