A bank robbery suspect has been shot and killed in western Wisconsin, another is on the run, and one has been arrested. That’s according to Lt. Jeff Lorentz, of the Wisconsin State Patrol. He said three people attempted to rob a bank in Exeland in Sawyer County about 2:20 p.m. Friday. He had limited information on the circumstances but said one man ran away, one was arrested and one left in a car.
A former nurse is accused of forging prescriptions to get painkillers.
Authorities said Jacqueline Binstock, 37, Bismarck, illegally got oxycodone, hydromorphone and hydrocodone while working as a registered nurse from January 2007 to August last year. She was indicted by a federal grand jury in late September. Binstock made her first court appearance Thursday. She was released pending a Dec. 22 trial.
Authorities said the vehicle that struck and killed a woman crossing U.S. Highway 85 in Bowman late last month might have been a semitrailer. The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a possible description is a white Freightliner semi towing a flatbed trailer.
Fourteen employees from at least three law enforcement agencies face internal reviews for alleged wrongdoing while working on the now-defunct Metro Gang Strike Force. A special panel reported last month it found “appalling and outrageous” misconduct by some members of the gang-fighting unit. On Wednesday, panel co-chairman Andy Luger gave the names of those officers to their employers.
A St. Charles man has been sentenced to 21 days in jail and four years probation for killed a young girl’s cat with a bow and arrow. Ajalon Thomas Corcoran, 24, was earlier convicted of felony mistreatment of animals. Corcoran said the cat was eating birds and messing in his garden. Defense attorney J.P. Plachecki said Corcoran didn’t know the cat was someone’s pet.
