St. Paul police have arrested a 59-year-old man accused of stabbing and killing his younger brother. Police said they received a report about 7 a.m. Saturday that a man had been stabbed. When they arrived, they found the victim and suspect inside the home, where they both live.

Unidentified man commits suicide near busy Fargo intersection 
An unidentified man shot and killed himself early Saturday afternoon near one of Fargo’s busiest intersections. The man shot himself in the head shortly before 1 p.m. on the 100 block of South 25th Street, 20 to 25 minutes after first telling police that he intended to do himself bodily harm, Police Lt. Joel Vettel said.

THEIR OPINION: Firearms incidents threaten N.D. gun culture 
Although no one was really hurt, the gun incidents that sparked this editorial were unlawful. It’s small stuff, especially compared with the illegal use of firearms in some of the urban areas of this nation — drive-by shootings, gangster shootouts, armed robbery, armed murder and mayhem.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office has identified the three men shot and killed this week at a corner market. The identifications came hours after Minneapolis police said they arrested a 17-year-old boy overnight in connection with the shootings. Police are seeking at least one other suspect. They say the motive remains unclear.

Men charged in standoff accused of pointing gun at cop, pulling trigger 
Two brothers involved in a standoff with authorities in Park Rapids, Minn., were charged Thursday with first-degree assault for allegedly pointing a handgun at officers and pulling the trigger. No shots were fired at officers by Brian Jon Bloom, 31, Park Rapids, and Allen Gene Bloom Sr., 39, Nevis, Minn., during Wednesday’s standoff, which authorities said began when their stepfather was shot in the leg.

A deer hunter in McKenzie County has taken the sixth mountain lion in the state’s quota zone west of the Missouri River, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department reported today. The hunter shot the 3-year-old, 92-pound female mountain lion Thursday northwest of Grassy Butte, N.D.
