Rains cause temporary halt to Devils Lake outlet 
State engineer Todd Sando said today that recent rains in the Sheyenne River's drainage area have led to larger natural water flows into the river. The outlet normally pumps 250 cubic feet per second of water into the Sheyenne, but the flow was reduced to 125 thousand cubic feet earlier this week.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office was called at 12:13 a.m. about a vehicle that had rolled and was submerged in the river.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the reservoir began cresting Monday at an elevation of 1,270.5 feet, about half a foot below Baldhill Dam's emergency spillway. That tied the record level in 2004.
