Minnesota Gov. Mark Daytons staff has begun discussions about whether a special legislative session is needed to appropriate the states portion of funds to recover from June storms.

President Barack Obama declared Monday that modern benefits like paid leave, minimum wage and Social Security “all bear the union label,” as he appealed to organized labor to help him win the health care fight in Congress.
The increase to $7.25 means 70 cents more an hour for the lowest-paid workers in the 30 states that don’t have a higher minimum. It also means higher costs for employers who feel they’ve already trimmed all their operating fat.
