Two bars fail compliance checks 
Two Grand Forks County bars failed alcohol compliance checks conducted Friday by the Sheriff’s Department.
According to the department, the Iron Horse Saloon in Inkster and Racers Bar in Manvel both sold alcohol to underage volunteers, who were working with plain-clothes and uniformed deputies.

Ornaments for VIP trees 
It will be a special Christmas this year for 21 fourth- and fifth-graders from Manvel (N.D.) Elementary School who helped make the North Dakota ornaments that will hang on two very important trees in Washington, D.C.
The 24 ornaments — clear acrylic balls filled with a paper bison and other symbols of North Dakota — will be part of the 2011 National Christmas Tree display in President’s Park and at the White House.
