FACES: Passion for pottery 
Pottery maker Nedra Hoberg knew from the start she wanted to be in on the creation of her art at the ground level. In fact Nedra, who manages the Grand Forks County Soil Conservation District, decided to learn pottery making because she wanted to discover more about soil. She’s enjoyed digging in the dirt since she was a small girl growing up on a farm near Lakota, N.D., she said.

Armed standoff in Nelson County leads to at least 2 arrests 
An armed standoff that started Thursday night continued into the early hours Friday with two arrests and three of five people involved still holed up in a home south of Lakota, N.D., in Nelson County. Sheriff Kelly Janke said that, as officers executed a search warrant at the Brossart home on 110th Avenue Northeast, they were met by three men with high-powered rifles ordering them off of their land. The standoff started at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday night, Janke said.
