Killdeer, N.D., area chosen for EPA study on fracking and risks to drinking water 
The Bakken Shale in the Killdeer area is one of seven sites selected for a case study on the impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday.
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, uses pressurized fluid and sand to break oil and gas-bearing rock. Some say the process threatens groundwater, while the industry assures it is safe.

Killdeer, N.D., chosen for study focusing on hydraulic fracturing's impact on drinking water 
Killdeer in Dunn County was chosen for a study focusing on hydraulic fracturing’s impact on drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday. The EPA has identified seven case studies. The sites chosen were selected following extensive input from stakeholders, including the public, local and state officials, industry and environmental organizations, according to the agency.

3 people injured in Highway 22 accident Wednesday morning 
Three people were injured Wednesday when Steven Johnson, 49 of Bismarck, lost control of his vehicle while driving south on Highway 22, 20 miles North of Killdeer at 5 a.m. and the vehicle rolled several times, according to a press release.
