The father of a man seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident early Wednesday morning said his son is doing “remarkably well” and that he “seems completely normal as far as his personality, the way he’s talking to us.”

“You spend almost two and a half years in Iraq, where it’s supposed to be dangerous and nothing matters,” an angry Dan Bohmer, the father of hit-and-run victim Justin Bohmer, said Wednesday. “You come back to the relative safety of Fargo and some piece of crap runs you down.”
Belinda Kay Messer, 42, of Bowman, was reportedly trying to cross Highway 85 at the intersection of Second Street Southwest and First Avenue Southwest when she was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling northbound, shortly before 9 p.m. Friday.
The suspect vehicle, a beige 2002 Chevy passenger car, had its horn honking, airbags deployed and coolant leaking from it when officers found it in the 500 block of Third Street South in Fargo, Lykken said.
