Wind remains threat to mostly contained BWCA fire 
The forest fire burning since August in northeastern Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is now 90 percent contained, authorities said Sunday.

Black bear Hope, famous via Internet, possibly killed by hunter
Hope continued to dim for a black bear named Hope with an international following online and a knack for slipping out of her radio collar. She disappeared recently near Ely, Minn., and researchers fear she may have been killed by a hunter.

Hope is the Ely-area bear born in front of an enormous Internet audience to Lily two winters ago. Rogers, biologist for the North American Bear Center near Ely, said this morning that Hope has been missing since Wednesday night, and circumstances lead him to believe the year-and-a-half-old female was shot and killed by a hunter.
