About 100 people attended a meeting Wednesday evening in Dilworth, Minn., in which the town's mayor and other officials voiced concerns about the possibility that a Red River flood diversion project will be routed through Minnesota, including Dilworth.
Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker said Thursday it’s too early for him to throw his support behind a North Dakota flood diversion project. Walaker said that’s largely because there isn’t a plan on the west side of the Red River that meets federal cost-benefit standards for funding.
No federal cash, no project, Walaker said.
Charlie, the 15-year-old Yorkshire terrier mix rescued from the James River Tuesday, died Wednesday morning, The Jamestown Sun reported.
Charlie’s age and near-death experience were the likely causes of his death, said Dr. Gary Pearson, veterinarian at Prairie Veterinary Hospital.
Xcel Energy has started replacing a brand of natural gas pipe at hundreds of homes and businesses in North Dakota after it was blamed for a south Fargo house explosion about a year ago. Xcel announced plans last October to replace the pipe manufactured by Century Utility Products Inc. by 2010.
