An Arizona law officer and Minneapolis native was struck and killed by another officer’s patrol car while he was laying down spike strips to stop a vehicle during a high-speed freeway chase, authorities said today. The officer, Chris Marano, 28, of the Phoenix suburb of Surprise, was a father of four who worked for the Arizona Department of Public Safety for more than three years.
A Grand Forks man was injured slightly and cited for drunken and reckless driving Halloween night after speeding and hitting a tree in his SUV. Also, about midnight Friday, a man walking downtown was hit by a silver Pontiac but not injured, according to Grand Forks police. And two men from Bagley, Minn., were not injured when their vehicles collided Saturday evening in Clearwater County.
A Grand Forks man has been sentenced for burglarizing Walsh County, N.D., farmsteads and stealing a cash machine from a convenience store in Minto,, N.D. Gregory Nordrum was ordered to spend two years behind bars and three years on supervised probation. He also was ordered to pay restitution and $1,100 in fines and fees. The amount of restitution will be determined later.
