Oslo man says new, larger bridge will help ease spring flooding In the 1975 blockbuster “Jaws,” upon seeing the size of the shark, actor Roy Scheider utters the line “we’re gonna need a bigger boat,” which has become a catchphrase for needing greater resources.

An engineering firm being sued by the state of Minnesota said it’s not responsible for the fatal collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge two years ago. The Star Tribune reports that URS Corp. filed its response Thursday to the lawsuit. The San Francisco-based firm notes that as recently as last year, state officials were praising the firm’s work on the old bridge and that the state has hired URS for subsequent projects.
UND’s economic impact on the Grand Forks area was $1.1 billion in fiscal year 2008, according to a report by the North Dakota University System. That’s close to a third of the area’s economy.
The report also estimated business activity generated by UND supported nearly 10,600 jobs outside of the university.
