The Girl Scouts are celebrating 100 years. And the Boy Scouts are 102 years old. You wonder in these times if the Scouts will survive. There is so much for youngsters to do. There are so few adults who want to be leaders.

MARILYN HAGERTY: 14 Eagles will be soaring high
The butterfly garden near Central Middle School in East Grand Forks looks better because of the work done by an Eagle Scout and other volunteers. There are rain barrels at the grounds of the Myra Museum in Grand Forks. And there are benches where people can sit when they visit the graves in Memorial Park-South cemetery in Grand Forks. These are some of the projects completed by 14 Boy Scouts who will be recognized as Eagle Scouts at a dinner this evening at the Ramada.

Northern Lights Boy Scouts plan new center in south Fargo
The $4 million, 14,000-square-foot center will include training space for the council’s 4,000 leadership volunteers, and a store offering Scouting uniforms and supplies.
