Alerus Center projects $460,000 profit in 2012
Grand Forks’ Alerus Center is $503,000 in the black at the year’s midpoint and has approved a 2013 budget that projects a small profit as well. A positive sign for a facility that has regularly operated at a loss, including a $49,000 deficit last year.

VenuWorks previously oversaw Alerus Center in GFAn already resolved dispute over a $21,000 invoice from VenuWorks prompted a Bemidji City Council work session Monday evening at which the city and VenuWorks both vowed to improve communication. Alerus Center turf work in full swing
Installation of new turf for UND football is in full swing at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. Construction of the $4 million upgrade began in May as workers started modifying the old turf storage pit. To accommodate the new turf, the pit’s size must be increased said Jeremy Linstad, operations manager of the city-owned events center.

Expecting loss, Alerus Center has profit
Alerus Center management budgeted a $60,000 loss for the beginning of the year, but the facility has had a $184,000 profit for the first two months of 2012. “The majority is from events, but also a little luck,” said Cheryl Swanson, executive director of the events center owned by the city of Grand Forks.
