A state-commissioned study says a barrier using sound, bubbles and lights would be the most viable option from deterring Asian carp from moving up the Mississippi River from downtown Minneapolis.

CO Brice Vollbrecht (Bemidji) Vollbrecht responded to a TIP complaint of an individual that shot a deer at 3 a.m. with the aid of a light while the deer was feeding from a corn pile. The 9-point buck was found in the garage with kernels of corn stuck on its lips. Charges are pending.

Minnesota DNR expects good deer hunting season
Wildlife managers are predicting good luck for hunters when Minnesota's firearms deer season opens Nov. 3. Lou Cornicelli, wildlife research manager for the Department of Natural Resources, says Minnesota's deer population is up from last year thanks to the mild winter.

When the crew was checked he learned that they were two separate groups that had scouted the area, received permission, then met while setting up and agreed to tag team their efforts. Firefighters battle wildfires in northwest Minnesota, southern Manitoba
Firefighters were battling a series of wildfires Monday that covered about 2,000 acres in northwest Minnesota and southern Manitoba. As many as 150 firefighters were working Sunday and Monday to fight a total of seven fires that were burning out of control in the drought-stressed region.
