Power line ignites cars, gas line in Minneapolis 
CenterPoint Energy says lightning struck a high voltage power line early Sunday which fell onto some cars parked on the street. Three vehicles went up in flames. Authorities say the fire was so hot it burned through the asphalt and ignited an underground gas line.

A man promoting investments in a sugar beet-to-ethanol project in Grafton, N.D., has resigned from securities brokerage firm after an investor-client complaint. Energae LP Holdings, based in Clear Lake, Iowa, reportedly is buying the former Alchem Ltd. ethanol plant in Grafton, and Darrell Duane Smith was the main presenter at a March 23 investors meeting in town.

State regulators have given a $30 million biofuel project in Le Sueur an environmental exemption. The developers, Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, won't need an environmental impact statement in order to move forward with the project. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Citizen's Board granted the exemption Tuesday.
