Two suspected U.S. drone strikes killed 11 al-Qaida militants in southern Yemen on Saturday, Yemeni military officials said. The first attack took place near the border of Marib and Shabwa provinces southeast of the capital, Sanaa, killing six militants, including one Egyptian national, the officials said. The second strike hit two cars in Marib, killing five al-Qaida-linked fighters.

Number of oil rigs rises nationwide, stays same in N.D. 
The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. is up nine this week to 1,974. Of the major oil- and gas-producing states, Oklahoma gained three rigs; Alaska and California each gained two; and Texas, West Virginia and Wyoming were up one apiece. Louisiana declined by two rigs while Colorado, New Mexico and Pennsylvania were down one each. Arkansas and North Dakota were unchanged.
