University of North Dakota head football coach Chris Mussman has announced the hiring of two assistant coaches. Former Minnesota State assistant Mike Cunningham will coach UND's offensive line. Former Montana Western assistant Jason Their will coach the outside linebackers.
Staff changes and poor weather have been the big challenges for UND during its spring football season. That has hindered some areas of UND’s game — especially the special teams. But the special teams pace has picked up recently as UND has been practicing at the Alerus Center.
As a radio analyst, UND coach Chris Mussman sat in the press box Saturday during the annual Green and White spring game. But Mussman, in his new role, didn’t get the chance to second guess the play of his young quarterbacks.
The first true look at the 2013 UND football team comes today at the Alerus Center, the site of the annual Green and White spring game. And the fans that turn out more than likely will watch the quarterback competition closer than the rest of the starting positions that are up for grabs.
UND’s strength heading into the 2013 season most likely will be its receiving corps — one that could be the most talented and most explosive in the program’s history. UND also enters 2013 with three redshirt freshmen quarterbacks.
