THIEF RIVER FALLS – A Pennington County jury found Gerald Sunsdahl guilty today on three felony counts, including making terroristic threats to brothers Dean Hanson and Dale Hanson in an attempt to coerce them to give him money in a bizarre extortion plot this summer.
Jurors heard a recording of Gerald Sunsdahl admitting, after two lengthy interviews with investigators in which he wove a fantastic tale of being stalked by terrorist drug dealers, that he had made written and telephoned threats to an old friend demanding money.
A name not allowed to be mentioned in court by the defense was spoken multiple times during the third day of Jedidiah Troxel’s murder trial, but it may have been overshadowed by the fact that an investigator testified finding Tanya Kazmierczak’s blood in the Crookston man’s car.
Day two of Jedidiah Troxel’s murder trial began with the defense grilling the investigator who oversaw the crime scene where Tanya Kazmierczak’s body was found, and ended with graphic details and photos from the autopsy performed by Dr. Michael McGee, head of the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
At the beginning of the second day of Jedidiah Troxel's murder trial jurors saw the most graphic photos yet of Tanya Kazmierczak's body. Sprawled on her back with arms and legs spread, Kazmierczak's body was riddled with stab wounds -- 11 to her chest and at least four visible on her abdomen.
Six witnesses, including the husband of a Thief River Falls woman killed last Aug., have taken the stand on the first day of the murder trial of Jedidiah Troxel, the man accused of killing Tanya Kazmierczak.
A former bank officer in Thief River Falls is facing a federal embezzlement charge after she allegedly stole nearly $400,000 from the bank. Vicki Lynn Torgerson, 48, was charged last week in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis with embezzlement by a bank officer.
