Three years after President Barack Obama signed a sweeping overhaul of lending and high-finance rules, execution of the law is behind schedule with scores of regulations yet to be written, let alone enforced. Meeting privately with the nation's top financial regulators on Monday, Obama prodded them to act more swiftly.
Rep. Rick Berg, R-N.D., says that burdensome regulations are killing the American economy. He seems to forget that most government regulations work well, providing Americans with safety, good health systems and a clean environment, among other things.
It’s hard enough to hold down a job in this economy, let alone start your own company or venture out as a sole proprietor, without the fear of government regulations making it increasingly more difficult.
