A gasoline station in central South Carolina sold the winning ticket in the $400 million Powerball jackpot drawing, lottery officials said on Thursday, as they waited for the winner to claim the prize.
Sixteen workers from a county garage in a New Jersey shore community hit hard by Superstorm Sandy have one of the three winning tickets in the $448 million Powerball jackpot, and some even came to work for a second straight day after learning they would be multimillionaires, county officials said.
A Minnesota man claimed his third of a $448 million Powerball jackpot on Thursday, wasting no time before revealing his good fortune to the world and saying he had "been waiting for this day my entire life."

The allure of capturing the estimated $425 million Powerball jackpot had players in a buying frenzy Wednesday, further confirming a trend that lottery officials say has become the big ticket norm: Fatigued Powerball players, increasingly blase about smaller payouts, often don't get into the game until the jackpot offers big bucks.
An 84-year-old Florida woman who bought her Powerball ticket after another customer let her get ahead in line came forward Wednesday to claim the biggest undivided lottery jackpot in history: $590 million.

North Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched all five white balls and the Wild Card in Saturday's drawing to win the $240,000 jackpot. It is the first Wild Card 2 jackpot won in North Dakota since August 2011.
