Although I was super busy when Robert came home last week, we did find time to go out for a much needed date night. We decided to make the most of the night and went to three different restaurants.

REGGIE TALES Olive Garden Rumor May Be True
For nearly 20 years the rumors of an Olive Garden coming to Grand Forks have run rampant. I'm still skeptical, but if that's not an Olive Garden in the above photo, well, then someone is building a ... Posted on 11/14/11 at 11:02 AM
“You are a dolt and the main reason why North Dakota is viewed as being a backwoods dump. The Olive Garden is the McDonald’s of dining...A touch of Europe? Ha! Why don’t you take a vacation and visit New York or San Francisco and see what real people eat?” That was one of the emails I received when I started going viral a couple weeks ago. My chin trembled, but I didn’t cry. I didn’t cry because for every nasty message I received, there were 40 or 50 friendly notes.
Marilyn’s Magical Media Mystery continues today. That’s when Herald columnist Marilyn Hagerty will appear via tape-delay on Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show "Anderson, which runs one hour and starts at 9 a.m. locally (KXJB-Channel 4).
Scroll down page to view video Watch NBC 'Today' show reporter Kevin Tibbles' report on Herald columnist Marilyn Hagerty, who, he says tongue-in-check, "had the audacity" to review Grand Forks' new Olive Garden restaurant - and become an Internet sensation.
Here’s how big Marilyn Hagerty has become: She snubbed Jay Leno. To be more precise, an invitation to appear on “The Tonight Show” was declined because of an earlier commitment to media in New York City. Leno’s people didn’t want to wait until she was available next week, when it would be regarded as old news considering the media crush over the 85-year-old Grand Forks resident.
Marilyn Hagerty, the Grand Forks Herald food columnist who is riding an Internet high after her GrandForksHerald.com viral restaurant review last week, is scheduled to appear on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" with guest host Jane Lynch.
"She's probably the most famous restaurant critic in America right now," Alan Sytsma, editor of New York magazine, said in this ABC "Good Morning America" report on Herald columnist Marilyn Hagerty and her GrandForksHerald.com Eatbeat Olive Garden column that went viral in recent days. Added a smiling ABC reporter Dan Kloeffler after his report finished: "How do you not love her?"
Life is full of surprises, so they say, and that’s surely true of the news business. A great big surprise landed at the Herald last week. Her name is Marilyn Hagerty. Well, not Marilyn herself. We know Marilyn pretty well. She’s been a regular at the Herald for more than 50 years.
"Because the restaurant was the Olive Garden," reporter Dave Kolpack writes, "Marilyn Hagerty's earnest assessment swiftly became an Internet sensation, drawing comments both sincere and sarcastic from food bloggers and others. For the 85-year-old Hagerty, the response was bewildering — and it threatened to make her late for a bridge game."
Marilyn’s got it. And by the way, she handled that Twin Cities “City Pages” interviewer quite well. She has no pretensions; she’s as good as they get. The Herald is lucky to have her, and I’m proud of her.
