Killdeer, N.D.'s unofficial chamber of commerce suspends operations 
As of today, Killdeer will be without the Killdeer Town Criers, the town's unofficial chamber of commerce, officials said Friday. "I think we all have really sad feelings about it," said Vicki Pennington, a Killdeer Town Criers representative. "The organization has been really active for such a long time." The Town Criers informed city officials in November it was dissolving effective Dec. 31, Mayor Don Dolechek said.

21-year-old former N.D. wrestling star, adrenaline junkie's life cut short 
Corde Thomas Fredericks, 21, a former Killdeer High School wrestling star, could light up the room with a smile. But that smile is gone now as he died suddenly Thursday and the cause is unclear, family members said. He loved extreme sports and had "a fearless attitude," his brother, Allias Fredericks, said. The only thing matching that attitude was the size of his heart, family and friends said.

Six months after landslide, western N.D.'s Highway 22 reopens

A Mormon woman from Utah was cutting the hair of an Amish man from Wisconsin when a woman with an Australian accent called for an appointment. This actually happened Tuesday in Killdeer, making the town seem more like the crossroads of the universe than a formerly sleepy one on the western edge of North Dakota.
