A pregnant young woman who was feeling ill was headed to the hospital with her husband early Sunday when the car they were riding in was struck in a hit and run, killing them both, but their baby boy survived and was born prematurely, authorities and a relative said.
A Grand Forks man was arrested early Friday after a hit-and-run accident in south Grand Forks. According to police, Brent Heinle, 45, drove a Ford van into a parked vehicle on the 600 block of Eighth Avenue South at around 1:30 a.m. The van then left the scene.
Ebony Nichole Miles, 26, was initially charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident that involved personal injury on Feb. 9 a day after the crash. One of the accident victims later died, leading to a charge of manslaughter.
Police are looking for help in finding a suspect who fled after an accident between a scooter and a vehicle at about 9:20 p.m. Friday in Grand Forks.
The suspect vehicle is described by police as a white four-door car with front-end passenger side damage near the headlight area and windshield damage.
