Lakeland Fine Foods of St. Paul has filed a complaint in federal court against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in a dispute over a food stamp program. Lakeland says the USDA has wrongly accused the company of improperly using benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP. An Oklahoma man accused of hiring his handyman to kill a North Dakota dentist has waived extradition and will be returned to North Dakota to face a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. Gene Kirkpatrick, 63, Jones, Okla., is accused of paying Michael Nakvinda, 41, $3,000 to kill Philip Gattuso, who was Kirkpatrick’s son-in-law. Nakvinda is charged with murder.
