Toys are being collected for Grand Forks-area children in need by WDAZ TV and Whalen’s Moving and Storage. To help, bring unwrapped toys to the WDAZ parking lot, 2220 S. Washington St., and help fill up the Whalen’s truck between now and Dec. 3.
Organizers of a Grand Forks event will have to go elsewhere for funding after the City Council voted Monday to withhold city money from them. TEDx Grand Forks was denied $9,566 in funding recommended for it by the city’s Special Events Committee.
Canadian Pacific’s free public event will feature a concert by pop-turned-country star Sheryl Crow, the main attraction of family friendly festivities celebrating 15 years of the Holiday Train food shelf fundraiser.
The Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre presents “Mulan” and “The Nightingale,” performed by the theatre’s youngest actors in grades one through 11. “Mulan” is a musical based on Disney’s “Mulan” and is a story of empowerment for everyone.
The new leadership for the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is optimistic about restoring the race to its former glory. The old board decided last week to cancel the 2014 race while they considered its future.
