The Fargodome is being mentioned as a potential site for the 2015 Prep Bowl, Minnesota’s annual two days of high school football championships. Also, the Alerus Center in Grand Forks was mentioned at the board meeting as a potential site for the event. But no action was taken regarding either facility.
Booths lined Grand Forks’ Alerus Center arena floor Tuesday, with tables covered in pens, coffee mugs and hats marked with companies’ logos. But perhaps the most prized commodities of all during the North Dakota Petroleum Council’s annual meeting were business cards.
State leaders gave their support to an overflow crowd Sunday morning at the send-off ceremony for the North Dakota National Guard 1st Battalion, 188th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Hundreds of soldiers and their friends and families packed a ballroom in Grand Forks’ Alerus Center.
Gardening Saturday, a day of gardening fun and education at Grand Forks’ Alerus Center, will be 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. April 27 sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service and the Grand Forks Horticultural Society.
The Jason Aldean Night Train Tour hits the Alerus Center on Saturday night in Grand Forks. Alerus officials won’t say how many tickets have sold, but they would say earlier this week that ticket availability was “limited.”
We are writing to say “thank you so much” to Grand Forks. We came to the George Strait concert from Montana, and what a surprise it was to see the crowd in the venue. It seemed like more people than we’d ever seen in one place.
The Alerus Center is a tremendous asset, even when it doesn’t make a profit. But residents take a special pride with the revenues exceed the costs, so kudos to the leadership for the facility’s financial success.
Around 20,000 fans packed the Alerus Center to see Strait on what he says is his final tour. Martina McBride opened for Strait, and while she had several loud ovations for her, many in attendance were there to see the main act.
With the concert just a week away, the Alerus Center has sold more than 19,000 tickets for the concert that will feature Strait and opener Martina McBride in the first leg of Strait’s farewell tour, said Lance Johnson, marketing manager at the Alerus Center.
