Today, Beef Products Inc.'s revenues have plummeted from more than $650 million to about $130 million a year, and three of its plants are shuttered. Company officials blame the abrupt falloff on a series of ABC News broadcasts that began last March - stories that repeatedly called its product "pink slime."

The resurgence of situation comedies is the clearest trend to emerge from TV's helter-skelter week of fall schedule announcements that just concluded. ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC will have 30 half-hour comedies on the air at the beginning of next season — 32 by November — compared to 17 at the opening of a new season five years ago.
A judge declared a mistrial today in Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful termination trial after the jury deadlocked, leaving an unresolved finale to a trial that focused on the behind-the-scenes intrigue and personalities of TV's "Desperate Housewives."
"She's probably the most famous restaurant critic in America right now," Alan Sytsma, editor of New York magazine, said in this ABC "Good Morning America" report on Herald columnist Marilyn Hagerty and her GrandForksHerald.com Eatbeat Olive Garden column that went viral in recent days. “GCB” tells the story of Amanda Vaughn (Leslie Bibb), who, while living in Southern California, saw her marriage end in scandal and her bank account implode. Accompanied by her two teen children, she reluctantly returns home to Dallas to stay with her mother (Annie Potts), a woman named Gigi who lives in an opulent mansion.

Or so goes the thinking at ABC’s “Revenge,” which has taken 15 episodes to get back to the point where it began last fall, managing to plop that pivotal hour into the middle of February sweeps and into a week dominated by hearts and flowers.
