The move announced Tuesday is meant to give consumers confidence that the discs they buy today won't be obsolete in a few years. It's also designed to familiarize people who have relied on disc sales with buying and collecting movies digitally.

Police on Friday arrested a man suspected of groping a child at the Wal-Mart store in Fridley this week. The suspect, 29, was arrested after his home in Columbia Heights was searched by police. Authorities received several calls from the public after the case was reported in the media.
Wal-Mart pulled the Enfamil Newborn formula from shelves as a precaution following the death of little Avery Cornett in the southern Missouri town of Lebanon. The formula has not been recalled, and the manufacturer said tests showed the batch was negative for the bacteria before it was shipped. Additional tests were under way.
Thousands of migratory birds died on impact after apparently mistaking a Wal-Mart parking lot and other areas of southern Utah for bodies of water and plummeting to the ground in what one wildlife expert called the worst downing she's ever seen. Crews went to work cleaning up the dead birds and rescuing the survivors after the creatures crash-landed in the St. George area Monday night.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the nation's largest private employer, is scaling back the eligibility of health care coverage offered to future part-timers and dramatically raising premiums for many of its full-time workers. Industry observers say the changes could have implications for millions of other workers, as more companies on the fence could replicate its moves.
