When the players showed up to the rink, the black jerseys were hanging in their locker stalls.
“Everybody was pretty jacked up,” Matt Frattin said, “and I guess it showed in the first period.”

Malone leads Sioux over Huskies
Senior forward scores twice to lead UND over St. Cloud StateRyan Malone starred for St. Cloud State earlier this decade and now plays in the NHL. His cousin, Brad, always has gift ideas for his children, too. “I always send Sioux gear down to his kids,” said Malone, a UND senior forward. “It’s a little jab at him.” Brad took another jab at his cousin’s alma mater Friday night — two of them to be exact — in UND’s 3-1 victory over the Huskies.

MEN'S HOCKEY: UND tops Irish, 6-3
There is no hockey tradition for giving out turkey legs to standout players on Thanksgiving weekend.
That’s probably a good thing, because the UND men’s hockey team had a lot of players who would have been eligible for a bonus feast after a 6-3 win over Notre Dame on Friday night.

The second-largest crowd ever to watch a hockey game in this state filed into Qwest Center on Friday night. “They got double their money’s worth,” UND coach Dave Hakstol said. A wildly entertaining, back-and-forth game finished with the scoreboard reading: UND 6, Nebraska-Omaha 5.

MEN'S HOCKEY: Sioux sweep Wisconsin
UND was willing to pull out all the stops to get its first sweep in Madison in nearly a decade.
That even meant wearing the black jerseys a second night in a row.
The Sioux threw on the sweaters that have brought them so much good fortune over the last five years and accomplished a feat that’s only been done by one other UND team: A sweep in the 12-year-old Kohl Center.
