TECH Q AND A: What's a good, affordable digital SLR camera for beginners?
I am in search of a quality, user friendly digital SLR camera. I have never owned one but have had many point-and-shoot cameras. I am wondering what you recommend for less than $800 that is beginner friendly and takes quality pictures.By Don Lindich , November 04, 2009
TECH Q AND A: New computer, old files. Now what?
I want to copy files directly from an old PC to my newer PC. Is there a way to connect the two in such a way that I can copy (or drag and drop) files from a Windows 98 OS to a Windows XP Professional OS?By Anne Krishnan , November 03, 2009
TECH Q AND A: Windows 7 upgrades: Look before you leap
I own a laptop with Windows Vista and a desktop PC with Windows XP, and I'm considering changing both to Windows 7. Is there an online "how to" site for making these operating-system changes? I understand the Vista change should be fairly easy and the XP change will be quite complicated, so I'd like a site where I could read about the procedures and print them out.By Steve Alexander , November 02, 2009
AUTO ADVICE: Go the extra mile to save on car rental
While it has been a great year for airfare sales, when it comes to renting cars, rates are rising. Rental companies have reduced fleets, and travelers are paying more than they did last year for the same cars. Prices really take off during peak travel periods, so you could be in for an unpleasant surprise when you book that rental car.

TECH REVIEW: Papershow is portable whiteboard, presentation, more
The Papershow system is comprised of three components. The first is a Bluetooth digital pen that wirelessly transmits what is being written onto a sheet of special paper which is the second component. The interactive paper has frames of microscopic points which can be seen by the pen's infrared micro camera. As you write, the pen uses them as reference locators making it possible to track its position which translates into what it is that you are writing.

AUTO REVIEW: Pontiac Vibe: Last of the brand
I wrote my first test drive in 1984, and plenty of them were obituaries for departed brands that either died or left the U.S. market — Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Peugeot, Daihatsu, Daewoo, Yugo, Eagle, Isuzu, TVR, Bitter, Laforza, Merkur, Renault, Sterling, Alfa-Romeo, AM General — and man, that list turned out to be a lot longer than I thought it would be when I started writing this sentence.

TECH REVIEW: A movie editor for the masses
Movie Edit Pro has several things going for it: It's easy to use, it imports video from everything from old VHS tapes to high-definition camcorders — and everything in between — and if you're not inclined to spend much time learning how to use its finer points, it will automatically import and edit your home movies, not to mention your cinema verite masterpiece.

AUTO Q AND A: What's leaking from car? Color should tell
I have a 2001 Buick Century with 74,000 miles on it. For the past few months I have noticed spots on the garage floor—mostly in the right front area. I put newspaper down, then took the paper to two different garages. They said it was not oil. I thought it might be windshield wiper fluid but it's not leaking. It's a puzzle. Any idea what it could be?
