Olga Knudson, age 91, resident of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of McVille, ND, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Olga L. Jerstad was born February 24, 1922, in rural Finley, ND to Edward and Marie (Linderud) Jerstad. The family moved to Fargo when she was two, where she graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School and Interstate Business College. She married Arthur Knudson January 16, 1948 in Minneapolis. They farmed near Aneta and moved just outside of McVille in 1977. Interestingly, their grandparents hauled grain to Michigan together by oxen, 50 years before they met.

Darlene Grace Edna Marjamaa
Darlene Grace Edna Marjamaa, 73, of Laporte, MN, went home to see her savior on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Bemidji, MN.
She was born on June 6, 1939 in Gackle, ND, the sixth child of Emil and Edna (Bakkila) Koski. When Darlene was four years old, her family moved to rural Menahga, MN. Following graduation from Sebeka high school, she attended St. Cloud State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. She married Calvin Marjamaa in August of 1960. They moved to Minneapolis, where Darlene worked at the U of M while Cal finished his Civil Engineering degree. Darlene was a teacher when they lived in Winona, MN, where they started a family. They returned to the Twin Cities for a few years, then moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 1967, where Darlene stayed busy with her children, volunteer work and substitute teaching. She was very active at the YMCA and United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, where she was on the church board and helped found the United Day Care program. Darlene was a board member of the EGF Performing Arts Council, the Grand Forks Homes Board, American Association of University Women and other groups. In 2000, Darlene and Cal moved to their current location on Lake Kabekona, near Laporte, MN. She was involved with Kabekona Lake Association for several years and was active at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker. Inspired by her lifelong love of learning, Darlene and family enjoyed traveling the world and discovering new cultures. In 2009, Darlene overcame severe West Nile Virus, and relearned to walk again after months in a coma. She is admired by many for her courage.
