Myrna Sweeney
Myrna Sweeney, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home in Larimore, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Myrna Jean Erickson was born December 24, 1928 in her parent’s home in McHenry, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Forde) Erickson. She was raised in McHenry and attended schools there, graduating from McHenry High School. She furthered her education by attending Valley City State College. She taught in various schools in North Dakota. In 1949, she married Arthur White in Devils Lake, ND. He preceded her in death in 1967. Myrna married Douglas Sweeney on November 27, 1976 in Larimore, ND where the couple made their home. She was employed by Simplot in Grand Forks, ND, retiring in 1994.

Muriel C. Farster
Muriel C. Farster, 89, Grand Forks, ND passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 in 4000 Valley Square – Woodside Village, Grand Forks.
Muriel Catherine Johnson was born on January 5, 1924 the daughter of Joseph R .and Marjorie E. (Tomson) Johnson in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada. Her family moved to North Dakota in 1936 where she attended Larimore High School, Larimore, ND. She entered the WAACs (Women Army Air Corp) on 28 November 1944 and honorably separated on 29 July, 1946. After the war, she moved to Illinois where she married Ed Shippert. They were blessed with two children but tragically both of their children were killed in an auto accident. Ed preceded her in death. Muriel later married Ron Farster. After the death of her husband, Ron, she returned to North Dakota in 1985.

Richard P. Bernardy, 72, of Larimore, ND, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, surrounded by his family at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Richard Peter Bernardy was born 3-12-1941, the son of Hilary and Alice (Wengeler) Bernardy in Munich, ND. He attended school at Munich High School and Aaker's Business College.
Richard was united in marriage to Geraldine Klein, November 4, 1961. He was the owner of Bernardy Insurance and Real Estate. Richard was a member of the Larimore Fire Department for 48 years, chief '76-'78, member of St. Stephen's Church, Secretary Treasurer of Larimore Golf Club and Larimore School District for many years.

Nancy Lawson
The heart of the Lawson family, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Nancy Lee (Spicer) “Nan” Lawson, surrounded by loving family, was called to heaven by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Nancy was born on April 22, 1940, the daughter of Henry and Lorene (Olmstead) Spicer. She grew up in Grand Forks and attended St. Michaels School. In her younger years, Nan was a carhop at Jacoby’s Drive Inn in Grand Forks. Nan was married to the love of her life, Walter Lawson, on August 16, 1958 in the Arvilla Presbyterian Church. The couple was married for 54 wonderful years. They made their home on a dairy farm south of Arvilla where she was a wife, mother and homemaker to her 5 children. Walt and Nan retired and spent the rest of their lives in Larimore. Family and friends were the passion of Nancy’s life. She always opened her home to anyone who wanted to visit over a fresh pot of coffee. She was filled with compassion and kindness and chose to use these gifts in helping others while she worked as a CNA for 30 years in Larimore and Northwood. Nan loved listening to music while working around the house as she cleaned and danced. With a zest for life, she loved to bowl, play cards, cook, chat, dance, and care for her family, She was a Sunday School teacher, active in the Ladies Aide and lifelong member of the Arvilla Presbyterian Church; president of the Arvilla-Emerado Lioness Club as well as a lifelong member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; her two grandchildren, Michael and Amanda; her parents; and her siblings, Peggy, Jackie, Allen, Evelyn, and Darrell.
