Denise Ellen Fuglem
Denise Ellen Fuglem, 46, of Larimore, North Dakota, entered eternal rest on May 1, 2013 from her courageous battle of cancer, with her family by her side in Northwood Deaconess Heath Center. She was born on July 11, 1966, to Elroy and Dorothy Johnson in Rugby, North Dakota. Denise was baptized in Bethany Lutheran church in Rugby North Dakota, and confirmed at the Michigan Lutheran Church. She graduated with the class of 1984 from Michigan High School. She attended Northland Community & Technical College in East Grand Forks and UMC of Crookston, MN. She was employed at the Altru Rehab in Grand Forks, and the Community Credit Union branches of Larimore, Northwood, and Grand Forks. Denise married Darrel Fuglem on November 9, 1985 in Michigan, North Dakota and together they raised six children.
Denise had a positive and spontaneous attitude. She loved digging in the garden, the color purple, canning salsa and spaghetti sauce, country music, dancing, and going to the demolition derbys. Denise was the queen of thrift store shopping where she loved to get the best bargains. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter,sister, aunt, and loyal friend. Denise was always so full of life, no matter what the circumstances were. Throughout her treatments she still made sure her kids and friends were well taken care of, as she always put others first. Denise touched many lives and is truly an inspiration to her family and friends. Denise will be deeply missed and in our hearts forever.

Robert N. Rinde, 87, of Grand Forks, ND and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his home in Parkwood Place under the care of hospice. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 6, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
Robert was born October 15, 1925, in Grafton, ND to Nic and Ethel (Miller) Rinde. His childhood years were spent in Hoople, ND, where he graduated in 1943. During his high school years, he was a state hurdle champion and captain of the All-Tournament Team at the ND State Class B Tournament.

Betty Muir
Betty Muir, age 81, of Grand Forks and formerly of Inkster, ND, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
Betty was born November 13, 1931 at Climax, MN, the daughter of Selmer and Florence (Potter) Syvertson. The family moved to a farm between Inkster and Fordville where she was raised. She also lived in other places with her family where her father taught school. She graduated from Nortonville, ND High School. She lived in Minneapolis for a short time before returning to Inkster. Betty married Douglas Muir in 1955 at Grand Forks. After their marriage the couple made their home in Inkster. Mr. Muir preceded her in death on December 13, 2001. Betty moved to Grand Forks in 2002. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Grand Forks.

Phyllis Black
Phyllis Black, age 89 of Carrington, ND passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Golden Acres Manor under the gentle care of their wonderful staff.
Phyllis Louise Brandt was born May 12, 1923, the daughter of Carl and Leona (Gettle) Brandt at their home in Marinette County, Pound, Wisconsin. The family later moved to rural Eddy County North Dakota. The Brandt family lived and farmed at several different locations in Cherry Lake Township, in the Grace City and McHenry area. Phyllis attended rural schools during her elementary years and went to high school at McHenry. Her graduation was prevented when McHenry’s school burned so she completed her final work through correspondence. Following graduation she completed the necessary course work to become a teacher. She taught at several rural schools throughout the area, and after each school year attended Valley City State Teachers College until she earned her standard degree in 1946. She taught at Minto, Juanita and other rural schools until she was united in marriage to Norvin Black on December 9, 1947, at Fargo. They lived first at Grace City and then moved to the family farm near McHenry where they raised their five children.

Bernice was born February 4, 1930 in Emerado, ND, the daughter of John and Ida (Jacobson) McGrath. She was raised and educated in Emerado, graduating from Emerado High School in 1948. She married Russell Van Hoof on December 27, 1952 in Larimore, ND. She later married Jim Quirk in 1985.
