Bernice A. Quirk, 83, Grand Forks, ND died Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.
Bernice was born February 4, 1930 in Emerado, ND, the daughter of John and Ida (Jacobson) McGrath. She was raised and educated in Emerado, graduating from Emerado High School in 1948. She married Russell Van Hoof on December 27, 1952 in Larimore, ND. She later married Jim Quirk in 1985.

Laura "Aleta" Grove
Laura Aleta Grove, 92, of Larimore, North Dakota, formerly of Egeland, North Dakota, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, April 16 at the Larimore Good Samaritan Home.
Aleta, as she was known by for her entire life, was born March 23, 1921 to Walter and Gladys (Sather) Forney in the house in Egeland where she resided most of her life. She attended Egeland Grade School and Egeland High School, graduating as salutatorian in 1939. After graduation, she attended Minot State Teacher’s College, where she received her standard teaching degree, and taught elementary school in Starkweather, North Dakota. On June 19, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Bland Otto Grove, son of John and Lulu (Pikkarainen) Grove of Egeland, in Los Angeles. She lived briefly in Los Angeles, moving back to Egeland shortly after her marriage while her husband was deployed overseas during World War II.

Irene Hoverson
Irene Hoverson was born Sept. 18, 1925, to parents Joseph & Mary (Vasicek) Trenda, at Lankin, ND. She married Melvin Loken on June 6, 1946 at Fordville, ND. Melvin died on October 21, 1957. She married Victor Hoverson on Dec. 19, 1965 at Larimore, ND. They farmed for many years at Strathcona, MN. Victor died on Sept. 8, 2011. Irene lived in Elderbush Manor at Greenbush, MN for the past few years. She has been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching gifts and making quilts. She was known for her delicious donuts and her popular decorated Rice Krispie Bars, which were present at every family party. She worked hard at baking, cooking, feeding and caring for the farm workers over the years.

Duane A. Kjorsvik, age 65, resident of Michigan, ND, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore, ND.
Duane Allen Kjorsvik was born December 3, 1947 in McVille, ND, the son of Lorentz and Selma (Northagen) Kjorsvik. He was raised on the family farm near Michigan, attended the Melrose Township School, and the Michigan Public School. Duane was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from March 5, 1968 until March 4, 1970. He served his country in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star medal. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Duane worked in California for a short time. He returned to Michigan and farmed with his father. He then began driving truck and operating farm equipment for several farmers in northeastern North Dakota. His hobbies included fishing and gardening, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Cleo A. Kelly age 97 of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Sunday, April 14th, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society, Heritage Grove, in East Grand Forks with her family at her side.
Cleo Ann Kelly was born on February 28, 1916 in Larimore, ND the daughter of Howard and Louise (Foubert) Nelson. Cleo grew up in East Grand Forks and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School graduating with the Class of 1933. On September 5, 1938 she was united in marriage to Howard Kelly in East Grand Forks. Cleo worked at Home of Economy for a number of years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a volunteer with Sacred Heart’s Women’s Ministry and also the community of East Grand Forks. Sadly on April 18, 1994 Howard passed away. Cleo lived the last 8 years at the Good Samaritan in East Grand Forks. Cleo was well loved and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Myrna Sweeney, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home in Larimore, surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Myrna Jean Erickson was born December 24, 1928 in her parent’s home in McHenry, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Forde) Erickson. She was raised in McHenry and attended schools there, graduating from McHenry High School. She furthered her education by attending Valley City State College. She taught in various schools in North Dakota. In 1949, she married Arthur White in Devils Lake, ND. He preceded her in death in 1967. Myrna married Douglas Sweeney on November 27, 1976 in Larimore, ND where the couple made their home. She was employed by Simplot in Grand Forks, ND, retiring in 1994.

Muriel C. Farster
Muriel C. Farster, 89, Grand Forks, ND passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 in 4000 Valley Square – Woodside Village, Grand Forks.
Muriel Catherine Johnson was born on January 5, 1924 the daughter of Joseph R .and Marjorie E. (Tomson) Johnson in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada. Her family moved to North Dakota in 1936 where she attended Larimore High School, Larimore, ND. She entered the WAACs (Women Army Air Corp) on 28 November 1944 and honorably separated on 29 July, 1946. After the war, she moved to Illinois where she married Ed Shippert. They were blessed with two children but tragically both of their children were killed in an auto accident. Ed preceded her in death. Muriel later married Ron Farster. After the death of her husband, Ron, she returned to North Dakota in 1985.
