Eva May Sampson
Eva May Sampson, 77, of Hatton, ND peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
Eva was born January 15, 1936 in Acushnet, MA to Edward and Nellie (Hughes) Chace of Dartmouth, MA. She graduated from New Bedford Vocational School in 1953 and married the late Granville Sampson on September 5 of that same year. Eva took care of the home raising their four children. In 1989, after Granville's retirement, the couple moved to North Dakota, living with their daughter until buying a home in Sharon, ND. In April 2011, Eva moved in with her daughter in Hatton, where she lived until her death.

Oilfield services company Baker Hughes Inc. says the number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas in the U.S. rose by three this week to 1,762. Oklahoma lost two and Arkansas, Louisiana, North Dakota and West Virginia were down one each.

Elaine (Melfald) Halverson, 74 of Roseville, born in Bagley, passed away peacefully on February 11 from Leukemia, an unfortunate side effect from treatment she received for Amyloidosis. Preceded in death by parents Rasmus and Emily (Kise) Melfald and brother Russell (Verna). Survived by husband of 52 years Hugh (Chuck); children Chuck (Julie), Marj (Bill Rew), Jane (Harry Straub); grandchildren Sean, Elizabeth, Ashley, Kylie, and Brittany. She is also survived by many dear relatives and friends in eastern ND and northwestern MN. Elaine is a graduate of Oak Grove High Lutheran High School in Fargo and NDSCS in Whapeton. She will be sincerely missed for her compassion, generosity, fabulous cooking, and spunky personality. Memorial service to be held at 11am on May 17 at Roseville Lutheran Church. Visitation at 10am. Memorials to Amyliodosis research at the Mayo Clinic are preferred in lieu o
