Donald A. Osborne
Donald A. Osborne, age 80, of Crookston, MN, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Villa St Vincent in Crookston. Donald was born on April 2, 1932 in Madelia, MN, son of George and Mae (Rooney) Osborne. He was raised and educated at Madelia, graduating from Madelia High School in 1951. He was united in marriage with Shirley R. Reed on June 4, 1956 at Madelia. He transferred with Minnesota Protective Agency to Edina and later to Colorado and then back to Edina. He left the insurance business in 1971, when he purchased the Diamond Bar & Grill in Crookston, which he owned and operated until selling the business in 1981. He returned to the insurance business with Vaaler Insurance and later with Noah Insurance, retiring in 2002. He proudly served as the mayor of Crookston from 1978 to 1979 and then again from 1994 to 2006.

He and Shirley had five children: Stephen, Timothy, Dawn, Carol and Michael. He enjoyed golf, U of M Gopher hockey, football and his grandchildren’s sporting events whenever possible.
