William V. “Bill” Peters
William V. “Bill” Peters, 87, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.

William Vincent Peters was born January 24, 1926 in Devils Lake, ND the son of George and Merna (Kiefer) Peters. As a boy, he moved with his family to Grand Forks, where was raised and educated. He entered the United States Navy on October 16, 1943 and during World War II served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged from military service on April 5, 1946 at the Great Lakes Navel Station. He returned to Grand Forks and was employed with the Great Northern Railroad and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement in 1988. William married Bernadine Narloch on September 18, 1952 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto, ND. Bernadine preceded him in death on April 5, 1995. He was an active and lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks.

Jeanette Kennedy Flaagan, 92, Grand Forks, ND, died peacefully at home in Parkwood Senior Living on Sunday, June 9, 2013, after a life well-lived and filled with love for and from family and friends.

Born September 21, 1920 in Grafton, ND, Jeanette Mary Kennedy was the eldest of four children of John and Elizabeth (Paur) Kennedy of Voss, ND. A lifelong resident of North Dakota, Jeanette graduated from Mayville State Teachers College and the University of North Dakota. She married James O. Flaagan of Tolna, ND, on June 24, 1942, in Minto. Together they raised their children and enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and internationally, dancing the night away and having adventures as a family and couple until Jim’s death in 1991.
