Birders await confirmation but believe peregrine pair is back
They can’t say for sure yet, but local birders seem fairly convinced that Terminator and Roosevelt have returned once again to Grand Forks. The peregrine falcon couple, a local item since 2009, was spotted this week nesting atop a tower on the UND campus, where they were relocated from their original domicile on the late “Smiley” water tower.

EAGLE IN DISTRESS: Bird with broken wing in East Grand Forks heads for Raptor Center
Rick Galstad was on his way home for lunch Tuesday afternoon when he saw something jump in front of his neighbor’s house on Ninth Street Southeast in East Grand Forks. That something turned out to be a bald eagle with a broken right wing. So began a scramble to find someone to rescue the distressed bird, which eventually crossed the street into a neighbor’s yard before jumping the dike to the Greenway along the Red Lake River.
