At least 20 tornadoes occurred during the afternoon and early evening Thursday in northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Minnesota along had as many as 36 reports of tornadoes or funnel clouds. That makes the tornado barrage one of the region's "most significant" in memory, the National Weather Service says on its website.
