Dr. Dale C. Kana, 79, of Fargo, ND, died on February 14, 2013, at Sanford Hospital, Palliative Care, Fargo.
Dale was born April 25, 1933, in Grand Forks, ND, to Lawrence and Frances (Dokken) Kana. He grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School where he earned nine letters in football, basketball and golf. He attended the University of North Dakota in the pre-med program and received his B.A. in 1956 and B.S. in Medicine in 1957. While at UND he played basketball one year and was on the golf traveling team for four years. He then attended the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City, Kansas, where he received his Medical Degree in 1959.

Erdrich receives Rough Rider Award in hometown of Wahpeton, ND
Heid Erdrich, who attended Friday night’s “Evening with Louise Erdrich” along with Erdrich’s husband, parents and many other relatives and friends, said it was a rare event for her entire family to all be together. Karen Jean Hunt
Karen Jean Hunt, 68, of Grand Forks, ND and Robinson, IL, peacefully left this world for another after courageously battling breast cancer, on Thursday, April 11th, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Karen was born to Manvel (Skid) Romain and Jean Eleanor (Sorenson) Krostue on July 10th, 1944 in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up on the beloved family farm in Bygland, MN, a place she truly adored, and attended the Bygland Township Country School until high school. After graduating from East Grand Forks Senior High in 1962, she attended classes at the University of North Dakota, majoring in Home Economics. In 1966 she married Robert W. (Bob) Gillies with whom she was blessed three children. They parted ways after ten years together but remained close until his death in 2003. She married Raymond A. (Tony) Hunt, who also had three children, in May of 1982, and they had one daughter together. They spent nearly thirty one wonderful loving years together.
