Years of work culminated for Alex Kreis on June 8. That was the third and last day of Major League Baseball’s amateur draft. And Kreis’ named was called. The former Grand Forks Central High School and Grand Forks Royals American Legion standout was taken in the 35th round by the Washington Nationals.

As the string of scoreless innings mounted, so did the Bismarck anxiety level. The Governors brought the No. 3 seed into the North Dakota Class A American Legion baseball tournament. But they were shut out and held to three hits Wednesday by Fargo. Then Bismarck was not only held scoreless, but without a hit, for four innings against Jamestown on Thursday.
