Raymond "Ray'' Leonard Driscoll
Raymond "Ray" Leonard Driscoll, 82, of Grand Forks, died Tuesday September 18 surrounded by his family. He was born in Grand Forks ND August 28, 1925 to Gertrude (Henderson) Driscoll and Leonard Driscoll. He grew up on a farm near East Grand Forks MN. After eight grades in a one room rural school, he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He worked on the farm and attended the University of North Dakota in engineering. He was drafted into the US Army in March of 1945. He was stationed at Camp Crower, MO; Fitzsimmons General Hospital, Denver, CO; the Blanche F. Sigman Hospital Ship out of the Port of Embarkation, Brooklyn New York; Camp Shanks, NY; and the Whitehall Street Dispensary, NY, NY. He served as an X-ray technician and in the military police. He received an honorable discharge from the army in November of 1946. On February 8, 1948, he married Adele Paula Chwirut in Our Lady of Angels located in Brooklyn NY. He and Adele spent 20 winter vacations in their home in Monzanillo, Mexico and then spent their remaining winters in their home in Fort Myers, Florida.
