Stephen "Gabe" Gabrielsen, age 73 of Golden Valley, MN, formerly of Fertile, MN, passed away peacefully Monday, April 8, 2013 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Gabe taught 47 years as a professor of music at his beloved Augsburg College. He received his doctorate of music performance in classical organ in 1994 from the University of Minnesota.

Donald Jorgensen
Donald Jorgensen of Stephen, MN, passed away on Monday, April 8th, 2013 at age 90. He was born on the family farm on June 14th, 1922 to Nels and Selma(Lundin) Jorgensen. He attended the Happy Corner School, and graduated from the Northwest School at Crookston in 1942. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1942 through January, 1946. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Gilbertson at Hawley, MN, on Nov. 23, 1945. They farmed in Sinnott Township until retiring in 1982. They continued to live on the farm until moving to Stephen in 2006.
Donald was a lifetime member of St. Petri and First Lutheran churches, serving in numerous capacities, from Sunday School Teacher to Head usher, to what was probably his favorite, caretaker of the St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, located just one mile straight east of his kitchen window. He considered himself fortunate to have watched the sun rise over that cemetery almost every day of his life prior to moving off the farm, and the family considers itself fortunate to have many photos that he took of what he perceived to be the more spectacular ones.

Donald Jorgensen of Stephen, MN, passed away on Monday, April 8th, 2013 at age 90. He was born on the family farm on June 14th, 1922 to Nels and Selma(Lundin) Jorgensen. Muriel Catherine Johnson was born on January 5, 1924 the daughter of Joseph R .and Marjorie E. (Tomson) Johnson in Regina Saskatchewan, Canada. Her family moved to North Dakota in 1936 where she attended Larimore High School, Larimore, ND. She entered the WAACs (Women Army Air Corp) on 28 November 1944 and honorably separated on 29 July, 1946. After the war, she moved to Illinois where she married Ed Shippert. They were blessed with two children but tragically both of their children were killed in an auto accident. Ed preceded her in death. Muriel later married Ron Farster. After the death of her husband, Ron, she returned to North Dakota in 1985.

She was the oldest of seven children born to Mike & Matilda Brown of rural Hensel, ND. Nell earned her teaching certificate from Valley City State Teachers College, & taught for seven years at various schools in Pembina County. Nell married Richard J. He peacefully lived for approximately one hour, experiencing only love from his family and faith community during his short time spent with them.
JohnPaul is the son of Benjamin and Janelle Gergen of East Grand Forks, MN, and the younger brother of Peter Gergen. Immediately upon his birth, JohnPaul was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church by Monsignor David Baumgartner. JohnPaul was a very handsome redhead who was able to briefly open his eyes and move his arms. He taught many people about the sanctify of human life. JohnPaul will always be missed but remembered forever by all those whose life he touched.

Karen Jean Hunt, 68, of Grand Forks, ND and Robinson, IL, peacefully left this world for another after courageously battling breast cancer, on Thursday, April 11th, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Karen was born to Manvel (Skid) Romain and Jean Eleanor (Sorenson) Krostue on July 10th, 1944 in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up on the beloved family farm in Bygland, MN, a place she truly adored, and attended the Bygland Township Country School until high school. After graduating from East Grand Forks Senior High in 1962, she attended classes at the University of North Dakota, majoring in Home Economics. In 1966 she married Robert W. (Bob) Gillies with whom she was blessed three children. They parted ways after ten years together but remained close until his death in 2003. She married Raymond A. (Tony) Hunt, who also had three children, in May of 1982, and they had one daughter together. They spent nearly thirty one wonderful loving years together.

Stephen David Haupt, 83, passed away April 3, 2013 in his home in Manassas, Virginia.
He was born in the family home in Stephen, Minnesota and was the seventh child of Louis and Amanda Haupt. He grew up and attended school in Stephen, graduating in 1948. In 1949 he joined the Navy, and retired after 20 years of active duty as a Chief Petty Officer. In 1971 he began a second career as a civilian at the Pentagon, retiring as a Computer Specialist in 1986.

Stephen David Haupt, 83, passed away April 3, 2013 in his home in Manassas, Virginia.
He was born in the family home in Stephen, Minnesota and was the seventh child of Louis and Amanda Haupt. He grew up and attended school in Stephen, graduating in 1948. In 1949 he joined the Navy, and retired after 20 years of active duty as a Chief Petty Officer. In 1971 he began a second career as a civilian at the Pentagon, retiring as a Computer Specialist in 1986.

Darlene Grace Edna Marjamaa
Darlene Grace Edna Marjamaa, 73, of Laporte, MN, went home to see her savior on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in Bemidji, MN.
She was born on June 6, 1939 in Gackle, ND, the sixth child of Emil and Edna (Bakkila) Koski. When Darlene was four years old, her family moved to rural Menahga, MN. Following graduation from Sebeka high school, she attended St. Cloud State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. She married Calvin Marjamaa in August of 1960. They moved to Minneapolis, where Darlene worked at the U of M while Cal finished his Civil Engineering degree. Darlene was a teacher when they lived in Winona, MN, where they started a family. They returned to the Twin Cities for a few years, then moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 1967, where Darlene stayed busy with her children, volunteer work and substitute teaching. She was very active at the YMCA and United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, where she was on the church board and helped found the United Day Care program. Darlene was a board member of the EGF Performing Arts Council, the Grand Forks Homes Board, American Association of University Women and other groups. In 2000, Darlene and Cal moved to their current location on Lake Kabekona, near Laporte, MN. She was involved with Kabekona Lake Association for several years and was active at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker. Inspired by her lifelong love of learning, Darlene and family enjoyed traveling the world and discovering new cultures. In 2009, Darlene overcame severe West Nile Virus, and relearned to walk again after months in a coma. She is admired by many for her courage.
