JEFF TIEDEMAN: What's on your buns?
It’s hard to go wrong with burgers. Just about everybody loves them. And when the weather is nice enough to fire up the grill, they’re a quick and easy meal option that does not require messing up the kitchen stove.

UND FOOTBALL: Defense still has upper hand at second spring scrimmage, offense making progress
A few plays into Saturday’s scrimmage, UND safety Erik Mersereau came up with an interception and sprinted approximately 30 yards before the whistle blew. Instead of stopping, he did a celebratory no-hands forward flip — an indication of his athleticism. But UND’s offense managed to flip the circumstances somewhat as the second scrimmage of the spring season progressed at Memorial Stadium. It wasn’t a great day by the offense, but there were signs of improvement. Still, UND’s defense remains the team’s strength as spring ball heads into its final week.

RALPH KINGSBURY: Needles of worry in haystack of good news
This job should be easy. With an economy like the one we have in Grand Forks, the Red River Valley (including Minnesota) and all of North Dakota, it is as good as it gets. Of course, that’s the problem. I mean, what is there to say month after month? Power up Word and write, “Well, the economy continues to grow. There are no signs of trouble” again this month. Then what? I am supposed to write a column. How do I fill the rest of this space?
