Photo comes to light in investigation of trunk babies mystery
Image is that of a woman who lived in building where remains were discovered
Janet M. Barrie was a private nurse who worked for a Los Angeles couple from the 1930s to the 1960s. The couple, a dentist and his wife, lived in the same MacArthur Park apartment building where the trunk was discovered. When the dentist’s wife died in 1964, Barrie married her former employer. It is unclear whether the children belonged to Barrie, the wife of the dentist, or someone else, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck said at a news conference Thursday.

Another whodunit that’s a ‘who wrote it?’
When the first book in the series — “The Calling” — came out two years ago, there was a great deal of speculation about the author’s true identity, which still hasn’t been revealed. Suspicion fell most heavily on Margaret Atwood, with Farley Mowat a close second. In any event, it’s clear that she/he is a writer of formidable ability — though not necessarily of detective fiction.
