In Minnesota Section 8AAA boys basketball, East Grand Forks Senior High had more wins (20-5) than any other team entering Friday night’s games and had the longest winning streak (13 games). With the 8AAA playoffs beginning Tuesday, however, the most significant numbers to Green Wave coach Travis Lindgren are 3-2.

A mid-July press conference was held in Colorado Springs to announce the formation of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in 2011. Before that announcement even happened, UND coach Dave Hakstol was on the phone with Bemidji State coach Tom Serratore. Both coaches agreed: Even if the teams were in different conference, they want to keep this budding rivalry going.
