James Henry Crane was born on March 31, 1922 in Woodhull, Illinois, the son of James and Nelle (Sandquist) Crane. He attended Stickney Country Grade School and graduated from high school in Woodhull. Henry grew up and farmed with his parents until they moved in 1944 and purchased a farm near Cummings, ND.
